Wingfoil Italian Trophy 2026 — 2nd edition is open

In partnership with Classe Kiteboarding e Wingsport Italia (CKWI), the online contest for Italian wingfoil athletes returns for its second edition. From 15 April to 31 December 2026, riders can upload their GPX tracks for free on www.gpsformula.com and compete with the rest of the national fleet.

2025 the first edition, with 50 athletes and over 250 analysed sessions. In the Wingfoil Open, Francesco Cappuzzo (Sicily) took the title ahead of Ernesto De Amicis (Campania) and Gioele Incani (Sardinia); Marta Monge (Liguria) won the Women's category. On the Kitefoil side, Felice De Nicolò dominated with an absolute peak of 38.00 kts over 100 m. Full 2025 results: gpsformula.com/events/ckwi-Italian-trophy-25.

How the ranking works Each athlete uploads up to 5 GPX sessions over the season; the system automatically selects the best one. Scoring is built on five parameters measured within the same session: top speed over 100 m, 500 m and 1000 m, plus the average VMG of the best 10 jibes and the average VMG of the best 10 tacks. VMG values are not isolated peaks but averages across the best manoeuvres, rewarding consistent technical execution rather than a lucky moment:) Each parameter assigns a position and the track rank is the sum of the positions. The winner is not the fastest on a single parameter, but the rider who puts top-end speed, sustained pace and manoeuvre quality together in one session.

Minimum track requirements:

  • Distance ≥ 10 km
  • sampling rate of 1 point/second
  • at least 10 manoeuvres

Categories Men and Women — U15, U17, U19, U21, Open, Master, Gran Master. Rankings are updated every 24 hours. Final awards will take place during the CKWI Annual Assembly at CONI.

Open to other national classes. The same model — free GPX upload, automated five-parameter scoring, identical algorithm applied to every track — can be adopted by any other national class (kiteboarding, windsurf, sailing, foil disciplines) wishing to run its own online championship with consistent, comparable data. Federations and class associations interested in launching their own GPS Trophy can get in touch directly.
